It’s Black Friday -the busiest shopping day of the year. So to celebrate the pinnacle of consumerism, I thought it would be fun to cover the most common emotional triggers for purchasing.

I want you to think back to a recent purchase you made. What was it? Groceries? Health food/supplement? TV? Car? Home? Vacation?

What was it that prompted you to make that decision to buy?

More than likely it was one of the 7 biggest reasons you buy anything – considering you’re part of the 95% majority of the population. The psychology of selling has focused on these 7 reasons forever.

When you’re posting ads, articles, sales pages, capture pages and so on, you need to take advantage of the reasons people buy. It’s called emotional response initiating, and if you’re not doing this, your sales will be very limited.

The chances are that you’re already selling a product or service for a MLM company that already has had their marketing masterminds figure out how to sell. Your task will be to use them in your ads that sell you- the leader of your growing MLM business.

You have to use these 7 methods, singular or combined to improve your sales, regardless of the product you’re selling.

1. You want to save money. Everyone wants a deal, you included. The internet allows people to shop globally, looking for the best prices. All media advertises “SALE” “Savings” “Cash Back”. It works! How can you make your products have more value per cost? Either decrease cost, or increase value! If you’re selling you as a team leader, you need to increase your value.

2.You want to make money. Maybe you bought into an MLM opportunity to create additional income. If this is the case, your purchase was based on hope and need to create money. There are very few things in this world that people can buy to create money, and a network marketing businesses are purchased globally at over 100,000 per day!

3. People want to save time. Bigger lawn mower? Microwave? People don’t have enough time and want to get anything done faster. Free time sells! Less time spent at work, less time cleaning… its all about efficiency. Think back a few years…8 minute Abs. Short cuts sell. Weight loss industry? Fitness? Health? Faster is seen as better.

4. Save effort. Make it easier – which relates to the ability t0 save time. Again, health and wellness, fitness is all about making it easier. If people can lose weight without effort, get 6 pack abs and still eat what they want, they’ll buy it!

5. People want improved health. Baby boomers are buying more and more health beneficial products every year. The MLM industry and alternative health care industry are rapidly expanding, because improved health improves quality of life.

6. Everyone wants increased pleasure. Flat screen TV’s with higher resolution…new cars, vacations, furniture, stylish clothing… even feeling better about yourself equals more pleasure.

7. Related to increased pleasure is eliminating pain. This is again huge with the baby boomers and the health/wellness industry. The alternative health care industry is booming right now with potions, tonics, machines, apparatuses to decrease pain. If your product can offer improved quality of life, make sure you are selling that idea.

Marketing and sales have always been about optimization of efficiency. When you can combine several of these emotional response cues in your ads, you get attention.
