End Your Fear Of Marketing: 5 Considerations To Make When You Start Online Marketing.

Admit it. You’re scared of using internet marketing. There’s too many systems and too many self appointed marketing guru types who claim their system is the only way, and you just don’t know who to trust.

Not too long ago I would have agreed with you 100%. The results of google searches for online network marketing systems made my mind swim. How can anyone ever decide who they should follow? Who’s genuine? Who’s a fake? Which systems are duplicatable, which are scams?

About 95% of network marketers are in your shoes… they don’t know where to turn. Thus, they are not using the internet effectively.

I subscribed to many e-mail lists and had plenty of phone calls from people that couldn’t answer my questions, or wouldn’t listen to what I was in need of. Maybe that’s partly my fault, because I didn’t know what I needed either.

Online marketing is a relatively new idea in network marketing. Many of those espousing their methods and systems are not actively pursuing network marketing. Instead, they’re selling marketing. There is no vested interest in building a network marketing business, so there is also a lack of understanding how to market a MLM business.

In finding someone to work with, I had several criteria to meet:

First, they had to be a network marketer. If they are not actively a network marketer with an established MLM business they are building or getting paid from, they’re off the list. It doesn’t matter what their primary company is as much as that they have one.

Second, they had to be insanely successful as a network marketer. Simply put, they must be a leader, and willing to lead. This is important… They have to be able to network and create a relationship whereby they can and will help you. If you’re a number, a sign up commission and then discarded, RUN!

Third, in order to qualify to mentor me, they must be using the exact same systems and methods they used to succeed in their own MLM. Really… would you buy a GM vehicle from someone who only drives a Toyota? Doesn’t that suggest a lack of confidence in what they sell?

Fourth, there has to be access to training and coaching so I can implement and copy what is provided. If I have to search other sites to learn how to build what they are supposed to teach, it’s not worth the effort.

Lastly, they have to offer many different ways to market. I was pretty green at using the internet to market to begin with, so I wanted to start simple and learn one good method, then build on that. Nothing complex that would sink me in details until I knew how to – at minimum – tread water. When I started to realize I could stay afloat, it was then time to take on the next skill.

When I started using the internet to market my MLM I didn’t know the jargon, the lingo, couldn’t tell you what an RSS feed is, how to build html code…

And I still don’t!

Now… I’m not the top dude in internet marketing. I’ll freely admit to that. I don’t need to be either. I don’t need to design systems and web-sites that market my MLM.

I don’t have the time for that, and besides… it’s already been done and available.

Instead of working hard on learing how to create the next system, I decided to work smart. I made a decision…

START!

You know… push the “send” button…

I chose something that met my criteria, made a committment, and stared. I don’t know if you could call it a leap of faith. It was more an educated decision to take action.

Since I started I have created a lead capture system, auto responders, signed up with affiliate companies that pay me commissions, and I have several low cost and no-cost methods of marketing in process that bring me leads.

I’m now building a blog site, use some incredible software that do things I barely comprehend, but are user friendly and allow me to move into the next phase of complexity. My affiliate commissions are paying for the costs associated with these new systems, so what I’m doing is virtually free!

If a 40 year old with no history of computer use other than turning it on to use programs can build a system that creates leads and bring in affiliate commissions…

And if I can do this while working full time, raising 2 kids under 10 years old, doing real estate investing on the side and continuing to train and race his bike…(and still get 7-8 hours sleep per night)
