You’re using old technology, aren’t you?

Well, you’re not the only one.

Most network marketers are using the old ways of networking…  cold calling, buying lead lists, talking with strangers, meetings, bugging friends, family, neighbors.  I’m sure you’re as familiar with those as I am.

The difference is I don’t use those techniques anymore.  Over 90% of people in network marketing will fail because they do not use new methods.

Old school methods and new technology: both can get you to your destination, but one will take you a lot longer!

When I joined my first networking company, I was given the “old school” tactics.  Make a list of everyone you know – family and friends -  and start calling!  Use your company’s sales webinars, sell your product.  Buy prospect lists and cold call them.  Put out flyers.  Generally, tell everyone you know about the great new opportunity that they absolutely have to join because it will change their lives!

As I now see, this is like going through an open market in Tijuana.  There are so many advertising and selling that people stop paying attention and actually want to run away.  Everyone has a pitch, trying to sell to anyone with a pulse.  It’s funny now, watching people trying to do just what I did.  They look like a hungry dog below buffet table, hoping – praying – for some fallout or maybe even some pity.

That method is called “direct sales”.  It is not networking.  Networking involves creating and building relationships, not destroying them the way direct sales does.

The tools in network marketing have changed.  You have probably heard catch phrases like “lead generation system”, “attraction marketing”, or “capture pages”.  These are not the same tools your grandfather used!  Toe-to-toe and face-to-face are still valuable and necessary, but why waste the time on 100 cold leads to get the 1-3% who are actually interested?  Wouldn’t it be better to have those who are already interested come to you?

Systems exist.  They are employed by people that already have been through the struggles you face, and were developed by people that went through the same thing.

Daily I now use one such system.  I write an article, post it to my blog, automatically submit it to over 300 article sites, book mark it in social networking sites such that it links back to my blog, and links back to my capture pages.  All this while improving my google search rankings. This takes me about 30 minutes, most of which is writing articles, like this one.

In fact, you probably found this link as a result of my 30 minutes of work.

I learned these techniques online through training videos, to copy the exact methods that the guy who discovered how to do this.  He’s had over 70 leads per day, after less than 3 months of marketing online. When he finally talks with a prospect, he is already sure that the person he talks to is genuinely interested in his business!  He has provided value, education and established trust in their relationship BEFORE his primary networking opprtunity is even mentioned. In fact, he doesn’t even bring up his networking company, because the prospect comes to him.

This is the true value of using the new tools. Time is valuable, so why waste it on the tire kickers and those who don’t want what you have to offer?   Most networkers fail because they spend so much time and money on searching, using outdated methods.

It’s time to empty your old tool box, get rid of the rusty, the dull and the broken instruments that have done little more than keep you right where you’ve always been.
