Lead Lists Are Dead: Find New Leads With These Astounding Methods
You’ve started building your lead lists online, making your calls to the prospects that visit your capture pages…
But while that’s happening, what are you doing to generate leads outside of the cyber world?
When I first started my MLM biz, for the first month or two, there were weekly calls, three way calls, e-mails, webinars…support of the kind needed to get you up and going – fast. All of it was sell, sell, sell.
I made some prospect conversions, built a grasp of the info and was able to talk shop to anyone – and I did… to the point of scaring off many prospects.
Slowly the communication and support from my upline started to fade. I found myself working on my own.
Someone in my upline suggested buying lead lists… which I did, and got a few customers. Let’s just put the concept to rest right now. Lead lists suck!
You buy supposed hot lists of people who “just signed up”… call them and get hung up on by folks who don’t want to be bothered…who have already been called by other saps who bought the same leads… who don’t want another telemarketer bugging them…
Lead lists are dead. If you want to practice getting hung up on, go ahead… All you’re doing is chasing.
So, I started listening to another of the CD sets, listening to ideas, learning how to become a leader in the MLM industry…
When I came across a couple simple ideas…
But, how do you know what works and what doesn’t?
One answer is this… Try them!
I had always known to listen to people that had already done what I wanted to do.
I needed something simple, non-confrontational and repeatable. (I had already run the face to face confrontation bit to the point of extinction)
Two words….
Drop cards!
Attention grabbing drop cards with your name and web address on them.
You can put them anywhere… anywhere you could conceivably conceal a bit of paper!
Now, not just any drop card, but something that gets attention! Something that looks like real money!
Would you pay attention to seeing a hundred dollar bill laying on the ground, or just walk by?
Yeah, you’d pick it up!
Ok, it cost me a few bucks to get some drop cards, but not much compared to hosting a meeting at a hotel, printing flyers, burning promo CD’s, putting flyers in the local papers…
And, with them I was able to start prospecting while I was doing my normal daily activities.
Sending back movies to Netflix… put a drop card in the envelope with the DVD. You think the guy at Netflix, making near minimum wage doesn’t have thoughts of finding something else to do?
Leaving them in the newspapers at Starbucks.
In a book or magazine I look through at the store.
With the tip for the waiter/waitress at the restaurant.
How much did that just cost me? I was already doing these activities during my day, and simply took the opportunity to do some stealthy prospecting along the way.
Now, did I just puke my opportunity all over someone? No. I managed a confrontation free introduction of free information.

How about CD’s?
You’ve had someone bring you a CD before, and plead with you to watch and get back to you. And what happened to the CD? Still in the case, right?
But, what if that CD is generic, and you don’t have to personally give it to someone, but rather had someone else do it?
Chances of it being listened to? Slim… but, if you just paid $5 toward their coffee in the coffee kiosk drive thru and asked the barista to give the driver behind you the CD?
Good chance they will pop that CD in!
Same deal at the fast food drive thru, the toll both, the parking garage…
There are so many ways you can prospect daily without chasing! You simply do something to get attention, and provide a proposal, and leave it to the intrigued and interested to contact you. Pre-qualified!
If you’re looking for ideas to use for marketing… they don’t need to be difficult or expensive… just attention grabbing and consistent.
