Success Is Internal: Do You Believe In YOU?

Do you care what others think of you?  Do you let yourself get drawn into their drama?

Most likely you answered yes to that question, either consciously or sub-consciously.  That’s because we all have an inherent, deep down desire to be liked by others.

I recently was reminded of one of life’s major truths… that – like it or not – people talk about you.  The question you have to ask yourself is if it really matters what others think or say about you.

This  is the basis of who we become.  Psychology points the finger at who we are as a compilation of our experiences, of which we become what we believe ourselves to be.  Who we believe ourselves to be is shaped by what we hear others say about us.

In short, if we choose to believe the critics, we will be filled with self doubt.  But if we fill ourselves with positive beliefs and thoughts we can overcome the external noise put up by the doubters and un-believers.

Finding MLM success requires that we shut out the pessimists and non-supporters of network marketing.  Every successful entrepreneur fights against convention to follow their own path to wealth.  They don’t take criticism to heart, but rather find the critical words a means to inspire and educate you more about yourself and your choices.

There will always be people in your life that don’t want you to succeed.  This may not be a conscious thing on their part… they just don’t want to lose you because your actions and success leads you down a different path from them and away from their stationary lives.   Somehow, instead of being supportive like a good friend or family member should be, they tell you what you’re doing is stupid, a waste of time… get a real job instead.

Training people in the MLM industry, I get asked asked this question frequently.

“What’s wrong with what I’m doing?”

I often get emails like the following:

Warren, I’m on the phone at least 10 times a day with no sign ups.  I send them emails with my company’s presentation on them. No one wants to close the deal. Either people tell me they’re not interested when I follow up or I can’t ever get a hold of them again. The majority don’t review the information and keep putting me off. Regardless of how good the meeting or conversation goes, no-one signs up.   I don’t know what my problem is. !

So…. what’s going on here?

The main thing that comes to mind is this:  Are the 10 conversations per day qualified, or are they just targets?

Here’s the reality of the situation…

You’re either approaching cold prospects who have no interest in the MLM industry (and you didn’t ask questions to find that out their qualification) or you’re “attracting” 10 new people a day with your untrained advertising who are already involved in the industry but are not actively looking for what you have.  They may become prospects in the future, but they’re not today.

If you purchase lead lists… good luck!   They’re more likely to be “suspects” at best.

However, if you’ve created a lead funnel like what I help people create at MLM Growth Explosion, or you’re using something like PPC, then you’re getting QUALITY prospects … and 10 leads a day like that might just be the real deal!

Consider this: what was the last site you visited that really caught your attention?

Maybe it was a political piece that hit on several issues you believe strongly about.  Maybe a writer was insightful and provided some different points of view that made you think deeply about something in a way you hadn’t before. Or maybe what you read made you laugh out loud.

Did you return to that site? Well, assuming the subject matter was remotely relevant to you, there’s a good chance you did.

You came back because you were intrigued and emotionally engaged.

You came back because the site was of interest to you.

If you want your posts to have a regular, devoted readership, remember this:

People come because of the information you provide, but will usually only stay if you provide it in a way that interests them.

Here are four things I’ve found that will keep those people coming back.

Teach through personal experience

The best is to use real life experiences, but if you find your life mundane and not worthy of writing about, consider inserting yourself into what might otherwise be a purely factual life-lesson. This addition of a personal touch can be enough to create a sense of connection between you and the reader.

It doesn’t have to be deep, profound life altering story.  Everyday encounters with various people, or your family can create an emotional bond, especially if you can insert a lesson of some sort.

It’s ok to stray from relevancy

Somewhere in my past someone said “… it takes more heart than brains to succeed”.  At the time I believed them…  But, I’m not so sure about that any more.  I now think it takes a good dose of both.

I live in a town that has a long history of mining.  Since the 1860’s, millions of miners have come and gone, buying claims, physically toiling at the task of moving earth to access precious metals.   I respect  these men for having the heart to chase a dream that very few ever achieved.  Somehow the allure of finding the “mother lode” kept them at it.

Miners came from around the country and globe to seek their fortune.  They came with little knowledge of how to mine, little money, and few tools.  Unequipped, they blindly chased their dreams.

Just for a second here,  fast forward this concept a century and a half…  Does it suddenly sound familiar to the current state of network marketing?  Hmmm…

Back to the history lesson.

History showed us that the guy on the work end of a shovel or pick-axe was not the one making the money!  Heart and desire appears to be not the only requisite of success and wealth.  There seemed to be something else…

A fellow by the name W.A. Clark started out this way in mining.  He dug.  He sweated.  He hurt.

He also thought… what were all the miners doing?  The exact same, and achieving the same results – not much!

He questioned what they all had in common besides their work.  They needed supplies!  They needed tools.  And he realized that he could profit from their needs.

Are you barely getting by with your MLM?  Do you work a full time job so you can pay for your MLM?

More than 90% of network marketers spend more every month on advertising, gas to and from meetings, flyers, renting hotel rooms, buying leads, online advertising…

Here’s some frightening stats:

95% of network marketers fail.

The average time in business of a network marketer is less than 90 days.

Most network marketers don’t even make $10/week from their commissions.

The vast majority work full time and drop cash attempting to build a networking business.

Most network marketers don’t learn the tools needed to succeed… they’re never taught how to advertise properly.

The trouble with getting a MLM off the ground is that it costs money to build a sustainable business….

…Or does it?

There is some amazingly effective marketing potential right in front of you, right now.

In fact, you probably didn’t even know you could make money advertising your MLM online while you build it.

Didn’t realise that?

Lead generating systems and affiliate advertising.

Ok, the cat is out of the bag now!

While you generate leads using online marketing systems, you get paid to help other MLM business owners market their own MLMs.

I’m not telling you your old methods are wrong or bad…

They’re just slow.

For you to make enough cash flow to continue marketing…

If you want to keep reps in your organization more than 90 days…

You need to have an SLO: Self Liquidating Offer…  or several…

Ever wondered what happened to the reps you signed up?   Why did they stop working at building their down-lines and disappear?

In the past, I’ve had reps do the same thing in my organization.

There were sign-ups in my organization I was sure would become MLM rock stars, but they withered away at the first sign of difficulty.  They didn’t get the immediate roll of income from their MLM and they decided it was time to move on to something else.

Here’s what I’ve learned…

The top 7 reasons your reps quit your MLM are:

7.  Natural born quitters.   Not overly profound a concept here, but you know the type.  They quit jobs, they quit marriages, they quit school.  They quit almost most anything except making excuses because there’s no drive or determination to do what’s necessary to succeed.  The fact that you’re reading this article shows you’re not in this category.

6.  I don’t mean to offend, but his group I term “Diarrhea of ideas, constipation of action”.  These people start all sorts of things but never follow through.  They often start many things  but never finish.  Likely they’ll have joined many MLM’s before yours.

5.  Emotional decision makers. They jump on board your opportunity early based on what they percieve to be a great opportunity.  These prospects will buy anything that gets them hyped up,  but at the first hint of not getting everything they want fast – aka money -  they jump ship to  join the next great opportunity they see.

Can it be done?  Can you be ethically and morally market your MLM business and still make money?

Maybe in the past you’ve felt like you’re selling your soul in order to make a sale in your MLM business?

I don’t mean that you’re actually dealing with the devil – and I sincerely hope you’re not doing that… but you somehow feel  that, in the course of attempting to convert your prospect to a rep, you are dealing in deception.

Marketing and sales have always felt that way to me too.  I felt that in order to sell whatever product I had, there had to be some sort of angle.  It seemed there was no direct and ethical approach to sales.

I’ve been subjected to “up-selling”… that nefarious activity of selling an item and then notifying you that it needs all these other add-on items for it to actually work.

The “bait and switch” technique has angered me on many occasions too.  You get offered one thing -usually a spectacular offer to get you in the door – and then once you’re there, they require that you buy more to qualify for the spectacular deal.

Where’s the integrity?

These kinds of tactics drive me absoultely nuts. And they’re why I have always had an aversion to selling… anything.

Likely it’s happened to you also… many more times than you care to remember.

So how do you ethically and morally market your MLM… and still make money?

I’ll let you in on a secret here…

You’re not selling anything but YOURSELF… and if that lacks moral or ethical balance, your MLM biz will never succeed.

Has your MLM business imploded while you watch other network marketers EXPLODE their MLM?

I used to go into MLM battle with a single shot rifle and bayonette.  The trouble was, I was fighting in a war where others were using laser guided, remote, computer controlled weapons.  I wasn’t making anywhere near the same progress as them…

You’re here reading this because you have these same issues in your MLM business: still engaged in hand-to-hand combat.

What, exactly, is MLM hand-to-hand combat?  I’m sure you’re familiar with it…

Cold calls, buying lead lists, talking to your friends and family, posting flyers, giving away free samples (they weren’t free to you, were they?).

4 months back I was recruited to the other army.  I lay down my rifle and walked away… forever.

Weapons of mass mlm domination…  sounds daunting if you’re not the one aiming them.

The top online network marketers are using the weapons of mass MLM domination to do just that… DOMINATE their MLM businesses.

By now you’ve heard of pay per click, forums, classified ads, banner ads, social network marketing, video marketing, ezines, solo ads, listbuilders, article marketing…  the possibilities make the mind swim.

For many people, the arsenal of marketing tools is just down-right frightening.

“It costs too much”, “I don’t know how to use a computer”, “I’m not experienced with the internet”.  There are lots of excuses…

Lets get one thing in the open right now…

Fear holds you back, and keeps you right where you are, with exactly what you’ve always had!

Which direction are you going?

How’s your advertising?  Are you a beginner, novice or pro?

You can tell who’s done their homework when you read ads and content.

I’ll admit it…I used to stink at mlm advertising.   The money I spent got little response, and then calling those who responded, they didn’t really understand what I was offering.

My product and comp plan?  Excellent. Company?  Outstanding!  Why didn’t people get it?  I thought I was supposed to sell my mlm opportunity, just like everyone else does.

I didn’t understand what I was doing wrong.

My advertising looked  like every other example I saw.  Were they doing better?  Or were they stinking-it-up too?

Most network marketers start without knowing how to effectively market.  They learn about their company and product and that’s it.  No wonder the failure rate in MLM is more than 95%.

Like you, I started in my first MLM business with determination and vigor, and absolutely no idea what I was doing.  My ads were similar in content to the majority of ads you see out there, and looked similar to this…
