The Top 7 Reasons People Will Quit Your MLM, and What You Can Do To Prevent It
Ever wondered what happened to the reps you signed up? Why did they stop working at building their down-lines and disappear?
In the past, I’ve had reps do the same thing in my organization.
There were sign-ups in my organization I was sure would become MLM rock stars, but they withered away at the first sign of difficulty. They didn’t get the immediate roll of income from their MLM and they decided it was time to move on to something else.
Here’s what I’ve learned…
The top 7 reasons your reps quit your MLM are:
7. Natural born quitters. Not overly profound a concept here, but you know the type. They quit jobs, they quit marriages, they quit school. They quit almost most anything except making excuses because there’s no drive or determination to do what’s necessary to succeed. The fact that you’re reading this article shows you’re not in this category.
6. I don’t mean to offend, but his group I term “Diarrhea of ideas, constipation of action”. These people start all sorts of things but never follow through. They often start many things but never finish. Likely they’ll have joined many MLM’s before yours.
5. Emotional decision makers. They jump on board your opportunity early based on what they percieve to be a great opportunity. These prospects will buy anything that gets them hyped up, but at the first hint of not getting everything they want fast – aka money - they jump ship to join the next great opportunity they see.
4. The easily swayed. They let their nay-sayer friends and family convince them that MLM is not a viable and respectable industry. People, by nature, don’t want others to succeed . They don’t want others to improve because it means they’re left behind in their same sorry state – no money and no ambition – so they love to tell others that what they’re doing to make more money is a waste of time. You’ll feel like a cheer leader if you sign up these prospects, always swaying them back to your side.
3. Uneducated/Under educated. Reps that don’t learn the details of their MLM, and more importantly don’t learn how to deal effectively with others will not succeed and will find something else to do. Think about it, you go to school and become educated to become a lawyer, teacher, doctor, accountant… why should MLM be any different. MLM leaders are very educated by experience in the industry.
2. No system of marketing, or old system of marketing. If your reps don’t have a duplicatable system that they can easily learn and implement to generate leads, they will fail. It just means you have to have a well planned out and effective system that you can introduce them to that is easy to use.
1. Lack of leadership. It all boils down to this point. This is the biggie. Leaders are the end point of all complaints and shortcomings. If your business fails, it’s because you didn’t do things right. Who you let work with you will affect your business. You need to sponsor ONLY those people that fit your team requirements. If you’re signing up any of the types of people that are listed above, you are not building a business full of leaders.
So, how do you stop your reps from quitting your MLM biz?
You have to be an effective quality leader. You must become an alpha leader.
You and you alone are fully responsible for making sure you are not signing up natural born quitters, emotional decision makers, the action constipated and so on. For all their worth as reps in your downline, you might as well just ask them for money, and that’s it! Tell them they don’t qualify. Send them packing. There will be others who are more qualified.
You can help your reps avoid being drawn back into the world of those people who don’t want anyone to become successful. Help your downline realize that if they stay exactly where they are – barely able to help themselves – they can’t help anyone else either. Once they escape their acquaintences who pull them back, they’ll have more freedom than they could have imagined.
If you are not leading with purpose and integrity, you may make some money, but not for very long. You want residual income on the back end… where the real money is. That requires building a team!
The act of leading requires that you create other leaders within your organization. It requires that you learn how to read your prospects and ONLY allow reps to join that have the skills necessary to lead, or are capable of learning how to lead.
If you haven’t learned how to lead yet, it’s time to find someone who can help you develop YOU, so you can pay it forward to develop others (hint… it pays you back 100 fold when you have others succeeding!)
